Newcomers' Introduction to Accredited Continuing Education Curriculum
Have you just started your continuing medical education (CME) career or are you an experienced CME professional wanting a refresher on ACCME accreditation requirements?
The Newcomers’ Introduction to Accredited Continuing Education self-directed online curriculum consists of three, one-hour multimedia modules that learners complete in ACCME Academy, ACCME’s online learning portal. The courses include:
1. Introduction to the History and Role of Accredited Continuing Medical Education: Learn about the concepts and terminology of accredited CME, and the value of accredited CME for your organization, healthcare professional learners, patients, and communities.
2. Planning Activities with the Accreditation Requirements: This experiential module will guide you through the process of planning educational activities utilizing adult learning principles and show you how to align the planning process with the accreditation requirements.
3. Introduction to Accreditation Requirements: Building on the experiential planning process in Module 2, this module will introduce you to the improvement science and adult learning methodologies that form the foundation of the accreditation requirements.
After completing the Newcomers’ Introduction curriculum, you will have a working knowledge of the concepts, principles, and processes used by accredited CME programs. The curriculum is a good foundational step to develop expertise to manage accredited CME at your organization.

The regular cost to access the Newcomers' curriculum is $150 per person for Accredited Providers and $250 for Nonaccredited Organizations when purchased as a stand-alone course in the ACCME Academy. We’re offering Accreditation Workshop registrants a discount on the Newcomers’ curriculum when you bundle registration with your ACCME 2021 Accreditation Workshop: Virtual Edition. The registration fee for the Workshop + Newcomers' Course Bundle is $500 per person for Accredited Providers or $725 per person for Nonaccredited Organizations.
PLEASE NOTE: The Newcomers’ Introduction to Accredited Continuing Medical Education curriculum is separate from the pre-workshop online courses and assessment that you will need to complete prior to August 5th for participation in the ACCME Accreditation Workshop. Once purchased, the Newcomers’ Introduction curriculum is available for 90 days to access at your convenience and can be completed at any time.
